The First Peoples Principles of Learning are a thoughtfully created list of principles that defy the standard Western intentions of learning, and revamp them in order to be inclusive, reflective, and holistic. The First Peoples Principles of Learning highlight key concepts in Indigenous education and life that focus on the self, and the world as one identity. This is a newer incorporation to the BC Curriculum but has finally been deemed as necessary and mandatory. The First Peoples Principles of Learning ensure connectedness between the curriculum, the student, and the world. These principles focus on repairing the harsh colonialism the curriculum was once based on, and attempts to create a bridge to connect Indigenous and Western worldview on education, and life.
